Grow organically while repelling gophers. No need for poisons or chemicals to spray on soil. Recommended planting rate is 1 oz per 1,000 sq ft or 3 lbs per acre. Seed is sown September through December. Plant anywhere you want to keep the gophers away from and improve the quality of your soil. Not a true clover, this species can be grown anywhere in the U.S. and it does especially well in the Southwest. Sour clover does well in a wide range of soil types. Almost any soil is suitable: the deep, large taproot is credited with the ability to break up heavy soils and increases the water-holding capacity of all soils. Although grown as a winter and summer cover crop it is also prized as a livestock forage. Frost tolerant with moderate cold resistance, it withstands frost better than common vetch. It grows well in areas where the minimum temperature does not go below about 18 degrees F.
